JEE Main Mathematics Preparation And Books

JEE Main Mathematics Preparation: Although all three sections of JEE Main are equally important, mathematics is a crucial component. Because math scores are used as a tie-breaker in cases of tied overall marks, they have an advantage over Physics and Chemistry. In addition, subjects like calculus, differential equations, and quadratic equations can be used to solve JEE Main physics and chemistry questions.

There will be a total of 30 questions in the new mathematics exam format. Twenty of these questions will be in the MCQ format, and the remaining ten will be in the numeric value format. Candidates can choose to attempt 5 out of 10 questions with numerical values.

JEE Main Mathematics 2018 Topic Wise Analysis

The math topics in the IIT JEE Mains syllabus are a good balance of easy and difficult. There are a few topics that are always easy to understand, such as trigonometry, differential analytics, circles and straight lines in coordinate geometry, and changes and mixes in variable-based math. The time when aspirants would spend hours answering a single question is long past. Now is a time of various decision-making issues.

Although JEE Main Mathematics isn’t particularly challenging, candidates often fall short of expectations because their foundations are unclear.

JEE Main Mathematics Tips, Tricks, and Shortcuts

Graphical Analysis

Candidates can make a rough sketch of the graphs and analyze them visually, which is regarded as one of the best techniques. Most complex issues can be facilitated in this way.

“Play with Graphs” by Amit M. Aggarwal is a recommended book for graphical intuition.

Hit-and-run Approach:

It is regarded as a fundamental trick that provides general solutions to issues. Start by giving the values of the variables, then double-check which value produces the desired outcome. With the aid of this technique, complex orientation questions can be answered.

Rely on Series Expansion:

Well-known techniques can be tedious and time-consuming. Keep series expansion in mind in such situations. Practice trigonometry and associated formulas; frequently refer to the formulas. When answering questions, avoid deriving formulas.

Make a Good Guess

JEE Main only requires straightforward answers; it does not require a process for how you arrived at the result. There is therefore room for educated guesses. Don’t rely solely on speculation.

Avoid choosing extreme solutions:

Students are advised not to select the most extreme response for questions with numerical answers. Avoid using maximum and minimum values as a result. The majority of the time, the answer is any option that falls somewhere in the middle.

Specify fewer options:

Try to eliminate options one by one in a methodical manner. This trick specifically works for questions that have the option “All of These.”

Analyzing units and values:

If you’re stuck on a similar issue, look at the unit and value of each option. Select the unit and values that occur most frequently.

Reverse engineering techniques:

It is regarded as a common trick and can help you save a lot of time in the exam. This implies that you should try to construct questions using the available answer options. Check to see if the conditions of the question are met by attempting each option.

Tips to Score 100+ in JEE Main Mathematics

Concentrate more on calculus and algebra:

Considering that algebra and calculus are the two most significant subjects, be thorough with all of them. The key to mastering these two concepts is consistent practice coupled with effective doubt-solving strategies.

Recall all formulas:

Developing strong formula skills can help you perform well in the mathematics portion of the JEE Main. Therefore, commit to memory all formulas related to probability, trigonometry, and geometry. Calculus formulas that are crucial will be very helpful. Creating a list or table and reviewing it every day is the most effective way to memorize them.

Working on Sample Papers:

Making it a habit to complete a few sample papers each day will improve both your speed and accuracy when answering mathematical questions. Sample papers help with time management and rhythm. But give each subject enough time.

Correct Reference Sources:

The right reference material will aid in organizing the topics because the JEE Main mathematics syllabus is quite extensive. Try to choose reading material for each chapter separately because one book cannot contain everything. Make a list of similar items.

Last Minute Tips for JEE Main Mathematics Preparation

  • The last few days before the test, you should study based on how important each chapter is. Also, trends from the JEE Main Question Paper from the year before should be taken into account.
  • Start your review with important topics like Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, 3D Geometry, and vectors.
  • To answer questions about Coordinate Geometry, you need to know what happens when you use algebra to calculate the properties of a cone.
  • Learn the formulas and how to use graphs and substitution to do well on the trigonometry part of the test.
  • Chapters that aren’t too hard should be looked over once because they can help you make up for questions like “What are the determinants of a number?” that you got wrong.
  • Prepare notes on the topics that have been shown to be weak spots when doing sample papers or practice tests. Prepare and review these topics well right before the test.

JEE Main Mathematics Preparation by NTA Content Based Lectures

Government Online Portals for JEE Main Mathematics Preparation

On May 19, 2020, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank released the National Test Abhyaas app for people studying for JEE Main. The NTA made the app, and it will be available for download on both Android and iOS phones. The app was made by NTA at the suggestion of the HRD service. What’s good about the National Test Abhyaas App is:

  • One full 3-hour question paper will always be available for both tests. This will be the same as the real exam.
  • There is no set schedule for the test, and people can work on it at their own pace.
  • The application will also tell you the right answers and explain each answer in detail.
  • Students will be able to see how much time they spent on each question and subject after the test.

Gujarat Board Question Bank For JEE Preparation

The Gujarat state board puts out question banks for people studying for the JEE Main, NEET, and GUJCET tests, which will be given in 2024. Question banks will be made available for all four of the subjects listed in the JEE Main, NEET, and GUJCET prospectuses, such as math, biology, physics, and chemistry.

The question banks can be used in both Gujarati and English.

Free Doubt Solving Sessions by IIT-JEE Toppers

Edvizo has started running meetings through the app Zoom, usually between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Those who want to take the JEE Main and have questions can get the help they need through a live video.

The group is made up of experts, IITians, and senior subject experts. The main goal of the meeting is to help the hopefuls get rid of their weaknesses and keep them on the right path.

The main goal of this activity was to make sure that the lockdown didn’t make the students feel like giving up. The group has also planned to start a seven-hour online meeting about professional direction on the weekends, starting at 9 a.m.

Can I use guesswork to solve any question in JEE Main Mathematics?

In the JEE Main, wrong answers are marked down, so it’s not a good idea to just guess. But you can save a lot of time by making educated guesses. You can do this by eliminating choices and working backward from the answers to figure out which choice fits the question.

Is JEE Main Mathematics Syllabus tougher for the engineering paper as compared to the architecture paper?

No, the math test for B.Tech/B.E, B. Arch, and B. Planning is the same as the math test for JEE Main.

Is there any official resource for lectures and sample papers that help with JEE Main Mathematics Preparation 2024?

Yes, you can go to, which is the official website of the NTA, to get free official lecture modules and sample papers for JEE Main 2024 Mathematics.

What is the best book for coordinate geometry in JEE Main Maths?

For JEE Main Maths, S.L. Loney is a great book to study and practice coordinate geometry.
