AFCAT 2022 Selection Process: Written test, AFSB Interview, & Final Selection

AFCAT 2022 Selection Process: The AFCAT selection procedure is detailed in the official AFCAT exam announcement. AFCAT 1 2022 will take place on February 12, 13, and 14, 2022, while AFCAT 2 2022 will take place in August 2022. Candidates for the AFCAT are chosen in four stages: written test, AFSB interview, medical exam, and final selection. A call letter for the interview will be sent to candidates who pass the AFCAT 2022 exam. Candidates should review prior year’s papers in order to better prepare for the exam.

The first level, the AFCAT 1 Written Test, will take place in February 2022. The AFCAT admission card for the written exam has been made available on the AFCAT’s official website.


Types of commission in AFCAT 2022 Selection Process

AFCAT Written Test 2022: Phase 1

General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test are the four portions of the AFCAT online computer-based test. Below are some further details on the subject:

  • It is made up of 100 questions for 300 points.
  • Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical & Electronics are the three areas of the EKT.
  • It is made up of 50 questions for 150 points.
  • Regardless of the choice of postings, all of the questions are objective-type.
  • The question paper will be written in English.

AFCAT Phase 2: Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview

The Indian Air Force compiles a list of candidates who achieve the AFCAT cutoff score in the online written test. Those who apply for NCC Special Entry and the Meteorology Branch will be summoned for AFSB testing right away.

The AFSB Interview is divided into three phases.

AFSB Interview Stage 1

  • On the first day of the interview session, an officer intelligence rating exam, as well as a picture perception and conversation test, will be planned.
  • Candidates will be requested to submit documents for verification after qualifying for the stage 1 interview. This will confirm that they are eligible for their positions.
  • Candidates who do not qualify or do not meet the eligibility requirements will be redirected.

AFSB Interview Stage 2

  • The psychological examination will take place on the first day (Afternoon).
  • After the document check, the Group Testing and personality tests would begin for the following five days.

AFSB Interview Stage 3

This stage will be reserved exclusively for the Flying Branch. The CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System) Test is required. Candidates who have previously failed the CPSS/PABT or who have been suspended from flying instruction at the Air Force Academy will not be considered.


AFCAT Medical Exam: Phase 3

Qualified candidates must get a medical check after passing the personality tests. During the selection process, candidates must be both cognitively and physically healthy. The conducting body will schedule a medical exam to check the candidate’s physical and medical health.


AFCAT Final Selection: Phase 4

On the basis of the final merit list, the last section will be created. In the month of January 2022, the final merit list for AFCAT 1 is likely to be issued. The list of suggested applicants will be determined solely on the basis of their qualifications and the availability of positions in various AFCAT branches.

Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches will receive 74 weeks of training, while Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches will receive 52 weeks. Candidates would be paid INR 56, 100/- as AFCAT Salary during the training session.

All applicants who pass the written test will be invited to participate in the interview phase. Candidates will then be assigned to selection centers and interview dates.

Is selection in AFCAT tough?

The AFCAT selection process is somewhat difficult. The AFSB interview is more difficult than the AFCAT exam. Candidates, on the other hand, can easily pass both if they prepare properly.

Are tattoos allowed in the AFCAT 2022 exam?

Permanent tattoos on the applicants’ bodies are only authorized on the interface of the forearm, which is defined as the area between the inside of the elbow and the wrist, and on the back (dorsal) side of the palm. Any other type of permanent tattoo is outright forbidden. A permanent tattoo may result in the candidate’s candidacy being canceled.

Is there any physical test for AFCAT?

Yes, candidates must pass the medical and physical fitness tests in order to be selected for the AFCAT.

Is Interview held in AFCAT?

Yes, applicants who pass the AFCAT online exam must attend an AFSB interview to be considered for final selection.

Will the 12th marks affect the selection process of the AFCAT 2022 exam?

The conducting body does not specify a certain proportion of Class 12 candidates. However, if you want to apply for Technical entrance, you must have a cumulative grade point average of 60 percent or higher in physics and math, as well as a grade point average of 60 percent or higher in your graduation.
