Latest Changes in CTET Eligibility 2022

The CTET Eligibility 2022 has undergone the most recent change. CTET Eligibility Criteria 2022 will now consider candidates with a degree in Post-Graduation with a minimum of 55 percent marks or equivalent grade and a three-year integrated BEd – MEd programme, as proposed in December 2021. This means that candidates who completed a three-year integrated BEd-MEd course and received a minimum of 55% in their post-graduation can apply for the CTET 2022 exam.

Nationality Criteria

Education Qualification for CTET Paper 2 (Upper Primary Level i.e., Class 6-8)

  • The applicant must have graduated and has completed or is in the last year of a two-year Elementary Education Diploma.
  • The applicant must have a minimum of 50% in graduation and passed or appearing in the 1-year Bachelor of Education programme (B.Ed).
  • Applicant can also have a 45 % in graduation and must have completed or appearing in the 1-year Bachelors in Education programme, according to NCTE regulations.
  • Applicant must have received a minimum of 50% in their senior secondary or equivalent exam. They must also have completed or be in the final year of a four-year bachelor’s degree programme in elementary education.
  • Applicant should have received a 50% or higher in their senior secondary or equivalent. They may also have completed or be in the final year of their four-year B.A./ B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed/ B.Sc. Ed programme.
  • Applicant must be a graduate with at least a 50% grade point average. They should have completed or enrolled in a one-year B. Ed. programme (Special Education)

Reservation Criteria

There are no seats reserved for candidates from the reserved category. Applicants in the General Category must achieve a minimum score of 60%. Reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), and Differently Abled receive a 5% relaxation under CTET eligibility criterion. Applicants in the OBC/SC/ST categories must have a minimum score of 55%.

Number of Attempts

There is no restriction to how many times a candidate can take the CTET exam and also there is no upper age limit. Applicants can take the exam as many times as they want once they meet the basic educational qualifying requirements.

  1. The NCTE must recognise the applicants’ teacher education degree or diploma.
  2. Only programs approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be accepted for candidates holding a Diploma or Degree in Special Education.
  3. The selected applicant with a D.Ed (Special Education) must complete a 6-month NCTE-approved Special Program in Elementary Education.
  4. Teachers of Languages, Social Studies/Social Science, Mathematics, Science, and other subjects must have the minimum educational qualifications listed above.
  5. The NCTE regulations must be followed for Physical Education teachers.
  6. Teachers of Art Education, Home Science, Work Education, Craft Education, and other subjects must follow the rules set forth by state governments and other school administrations.
