Admission to the BDes Fashion Design programme is either merit-based or based on an entrance exam. The NIFT board administers an entrance exam for admission to the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFTs). Merit-based admission is also available at a few private colleges.
The majority of private colleges that offer this course admit students based on their 10+2 grade point average.
College Application: The candidate must apply to the college using the application forms found on their official website. Some colleges also have paper forms available on their campuses.
Merit List Generation: The colleges will prepare and publish a merit list of the shortlisted candidates based on the marks earned at the 10+2 level.

NID DAT: The National Institute of Design’s authorities administer the NID Design Aptitude Test. The exam is administered using pen and paper. The NIT DAT is divided into two parts: prelims and mains. Students who pass the preliminary exam for the Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design) must also pass the main exam to be considered for final admission to the programme. The examination is held once a year. The exam is conducted in English and takes three hours to complete. NIT DAT has ten participating colleges with a total of 220 seats available.
AIEED: The ARCH Academy of Design conducts AIEED to offer admissions to fashion and design programmes at their Delhi and Jaipur campuses. The General Ability Test and the Creative Ability Test are the two sections of the exam pattern. After passing the exam, students must also pass the Personal Interaction round in order to be considered for final admission to the B.Des. (Fashion Design) programme. The AIEED GAT lasts two hours and consists of 60 questions, while the AIEED CAT lasts three hours and consists of 50 questions.
NIFT Entrance Exam: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a national entrance exam for design and fashion technology programmes. Pearl Academy Entrance Exam: The Pearl Academy of Fashion offers admission to design, fashion, business, and media programmes through the Pearl Academy Entrance Exam. The exam is held three times a year, depending on the number of seats available. The exam is held to provide admission to the university’s various campuses in Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, and Jaipur. The exam is given in English and is taken in a paper-and-pencil mode.
