Master's Courses

Whatever your field of study, there are a number of excellent Indian universities to choose from. Thousands of colleges in India are affiliated with prestigious universities and offer master’s degrees in a variety of fields.

Based on their structure, there are two types of master’s degrees based on their structure: taught master’s degrees and research master’s degrees. Taught master’s degrees are those that follow a structured course outline that includes lectures, seminars, and assignments from professors. In essence, they are similar to typical undergraduate college courses. On the other hand, a research master’s degree is more akin to a PhD program. Students are given a topic or theme to research and write about. Professors oversee the process and assist where needed. However, there are fewer classes and lectures than in traditional college courses.

Masters’ Courses: Application Procedure

  • You must have earned a bachelor’s degree in the same or a related field to be eligible for a master’s degree.
  • Some universities admit students based on their academic achievements only. This means you must have received at least a 55–60 percent in your undergraduate course.
  • Other universities require you to take and pass the entrance examination.
  • The application fee for these entrance exams is also paid.

The best thing about getting a Master’s degree from an Indian university is that all classes are taught in English. Because India is such a diverse country, students come from all over the country to pursue higher education. As a result, having a consistent teaching language throughout is extremely beneficial.
