JEE Main Exam Pattern And Syllabus

JEE Main Exam Pattern: The marking scheme has been updated by NTA, but there have been no new changes to the JEE Main Exam Pattern for 2024. The JEE Main 2024 Question Paper will now have two sections, Section A with 20 Multiple-Choice Questions and Section B with 10 numerical value questions, from which candidates must choose five to answer correctly. In contrast to last year, JEE Main 2024 will award a negative score of -1 for both sections.

  • NTA had introduced this internal choice option because JEE Main Syllabus last year remained unchanged despite a 30% reduction in Class 12th CBSE and other state board syllabi.
  • This year, JEE Main 2024 will take place twice, in April and May.
  • The exam will be administered in 13 languages, which is another significant modification to the JEE Main Exam Pattern.
  • This change was reversed in JEE Main 2021, but the number of questions that had to be attempted per section remained the same, i.e. 25, as in 2020 when the total number of questions in the B.E./B.Tech paper was reduced from 90 to 75.

JEE Main Exam Pattern: JEE Main Total Marks

Since the year 2019, NTA has been the body in charge of administering the exam, and it has been delegated the authority to establish and develop the JEE Main Exam Pattern.

  • The NTA made a significant adjustment in 2024 with regard to the total number of marks that were assigned to the question paper.
  • In the past, there were two papers for JEE Main: one for B.E./B.Tech with a total of 360 marks and another for B. Arch/B. Planning with a total of 390 marks.
  • Beginning with the current school year, students taking the B. Planning course will be required to submit a separate paper. The aggregate scores on each of the examinations have also been adjusted accordingly. The paper for B.E. and B. Tech now counts for 300 marks. Both the B. Architectural Design Paper and the B. Planning Paper are worth a total of 400 marks each.
  • Candidates are free to examine the distribution of questions according to the section. Total points earned on the JEE Main exam across all three papers:

JEE Main 2024 Online Mock Test

JEE Main Mock Tests can be a great way for people taking the test to learn about the JEE Main Exam Pattern. On its official website, nta.ac.in, the NTA gives people who want to take the JEE Main official mock tests. There are 18 mock tests in total, and you can take them in English, Hindi, or Gujarati. At TPCs, you don’t have to pay anything to take a mock test. The test will not cost anything. But this test shouldn’t be used as a practice test for the real test, and you don’t need to log in to take it. Check JEE Main Mock Test 2024: Registration, Rules, and Tips for Getting Ready

BIE Telangana has put out free online Mock Tests for JEE Main 2024. You will be able to take the tests every day, every week, or as part of a grand mock test series. Taking into account the current lockdown, this was done to help candidates prepare for the next JEE Main session in 2024. Anyone who wants to can sign up for free online classes at tsibe.cgg.gov.in. The test will be given in English and Telugu, and all students will be able to take it for free. Candidates can also use their phones to take the practice tests by downloading a mobile app. Register Here

Is it better to take a drop for JEE Main 2024 Preparation?

Students are sometimes put in the difficult position of deciding whether to give themselves another opportunity by dropping a class or to try to gain admission on their very first try. It can be difficult to prepare for both the JEE Main exam and the board exams at the same time.

JEE Main Questions

  • The JEE Main Syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum. Candidates must know the basics of the CBSE curriculum for chemistry, math, and physics for grades 11 and 12.
  • JEE Main Questions Math: Many people who want to take the test think that the math section is the hardest. It takes a lot of time, so learning math questions by heart won’t help you get a high score on the test. The best amount of time to answer a math question is between 92 and 100 seconds.
  • JEE Main Questions Physics: Physics questions are tricky, and this part of JEE Main is often thought to be the hardest. The best way to figure out how to solve a Physics question is to make it about something you already know. 85 to 90 seconds is the best amount of time to try to answer a physics question.
  • JEE Main Chemistry Questions: Physical, Organic, and Inorganic. Candidates are often told to do chemistry first in the JEE Main Question Paper because the answers are easier to figure out than in physics and math. This way, they can spend more time on the other two sections. On average, 60 to 65 seconds is the best amount of time to try to answer a chemistry question.

The table below shows how the number of questions in the B.E./B.Tech papers for the January session of JEE Main are spread out by level of difficulty:

Sections Medium Tough Easy
Chemistry 11 4 10
Mathematics 10 2 13
Physics 7 2 16

Paper Attempting Tips for JEE Main 2024

  • Candidates are advised to attempt the chemistry section first because it contains a significant amount of direct questions. As a result, this section takes less time and is worth fewer points than the other two.
  • Candidates should refrain from attempting all of the questions. Candidates should know exactly how many questions they must correctly answer in order to receive the desired percentage.
  • Graph-based questions should be attempted by candidates because they are simple to answer. They can be approached using various parameters, such as inserting values, to weed out undesirable choices.
  • Give none of the three sections the same amount of time. Experts advise allocating no more than 40 to 45 minutes to the chemistry section and allocating the remaining time between math and physics according to the candidates’ needs and aptitudes.
  • While answering the questions, candidates frequently draw conclusions on instinct. If you catch yourself making this error, try writing the information provided in the question separately to ensure that you base your problem-solving decisions on facts.
