What is the full form of XAT?

XAT is the abbreviation for Xavier Aptitude Test. It is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by XLRI(Xavier School of Management), Jamshedpur for admission to management programmes at XLRI and 148 other participating XAT institutes across the country. XLRI has been conducting admission tests in India for over 60 years to select the most qualified candidates for management education. Each year, approximately 90,000 candidates sit for the XAT exam. Additionally, the exam is conducted online.

Criteria for XAT Examination Eligibility

XAT is an MBA or PGDM admission test for XLRI and 150 other top Indian MBA colleges, including IMT Ghaziabad, SPJIMR Mumbai, TAPMI Manipal, and XIMB Bhubaneswar.

• A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or board is required.
• Graduation should last at least three years.
• Students in their final year of graduation may also apply for the test.
• XLRI has not recommended any age restriction for registering for the examination in accordance with the XAT eligibility requirements.

XAT Exam Pattern

The XAT exam is divided into four sections, each of which contains multiple-choice questions. The examination lasts 180 minutes.

1. Verbal (VR) and Logical Reasoning(LR),
2. Decision Making (DM)
3. Data Interpretation(DI) and Quantitative Ability (QA)
4. General Knowledge (GK)

There is no time limit for each section, but access to the on-screen calculator will not be granted to the applicants.

Marking method in XAT test

• Each question carries one mark. Therefore one score is credited for each correct answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
• For each question, unattended queries greater than eight will also result in 0.05 scores of negative scoring.
